Additional A Hundred Million Suns Information

SNOW PATROL - A Hundred Million Suns - (Polydor/Fiction/Geffen Records)

The album is preceded by the fantastic single "Take Back The City", which comes with a video shot in East London courtesy of acclaimed video director Alex Courtes (White Stripes "Seven Nation Army").

Gary Lightbody (vocals/guitars) says, ""I'm so proud of this record. Everybody played out of their skin. Garret (Jacknife Lee) continued his progression from maverick genius to one of the best producers in the world. Musically, lyrically and sonically the best record we've made"

The Grammy-nominated band's fifth studio album was recorded throughout the Summer of 2008 in Hansa Studios in Berlin (where Bowie recorded "Low," "Heroes" and "Lodger") and at Grouse Lodge deep in the Irish countryside. Written by Snow Patrol, the album was produced by Garret "Jacknife" Lee (Bloc Party, REM, U2).

Snow Patrol are one of the biggest selling UK bands this decade and A Hundred Million Suns follows up the 2006 Number One, seven-times platinum phenomenon Eyes Open which sold 2.1 million copies in the UK and over 1 million in the US. Eyes Open achieved platinum awards across the world from the US and Canada to Germany, Australia and beyond, selling over 4.5 million copies. Their single "Chasing Cars" has just received its 2 millionth download in the US.

What Customers Say About A Hundred Million Suns:

Like a lot of people, I didn't really know who Snow Patrol were until it came time for their third album Final Straw. Other notables include "The Golden Floor", "Engines" and "Take Back the City". I have been following them since then, and now it came time to listen to their latest release, A Hundred Million Suns. This album turns out to be one of the best albums Gary and the boys recorded. Some people might be a little annoyed by how long some of the song titles are ("If There's a Rocket Tie Me to It", "Please Just Take These Photos from My Hands"), but that can be easily ignored by how good the songs are. And while the sensual "Crack the Shutters" looks a little cheesy on paper, it works. What I never understood, though, is why artists sometimes close their albums with what looks like one very long song but is instead three theatrical tracks put together ("The Lightning Strike"), especially when the songs don't even sound alike. Oh, well; while you won't necessarily find any standouts to the likes of "Chasing Cars" on here, A Hundred Million Suns should still be able to brighten your day.Anthony Rupert

Snow Patrol's lyricism plays off of their musicality perfectly. I only have three of Snow Patrols CD's. I love all of them, but this one is my fave. This cd is refreshingly un-commercial. They take you seamlessly from barely contained energy to haunting longing and what makes it rare is it's all believable.

Enough said. I like it, I don't love it. I actually have not listened to it in a long time and forgot I purchased it until I was sent an email asking me to review it.

This has grown on me a little since I first heard it. Their other albums had some terrific songs. This one has some good songs.

A friend gave me this CD and I was excited because of my love for Snow Patrol's Final Straw. It's another band entirely. I didn't really try and listen to the one released after that: Eyes Open, (even though I enjoyed some of the songs off that album) and for some reason in this album I can not find a song I like completely. It's more than a let down. If you like it, good for you but for me, I am disappointed by this effort by Snow Patrol. I won't be willing to see how the next albums sound like or even see them in concert.
